everett {1 year}
I love seeing the world through a one year old. Everything is still so new to them, and the facial expressions — oh those expressions are priceless! Little Everett had plenty of fun faces — most of the time he smiled from ear to ear, otherwise was in awe or looked surprised. He also loved playing peek-a-boo, blew kisses and tried to eat rocks. π His blue eyes are just adorable and he sure loved looking at the camera. Happy one year, Everett!
tyler {one year}
I was happy to take Tyler’s one year photos while he and his parents were back in town from Vegas! Although, sometimes I want to just press a “slow down” button when parents come to me asking to take their kiddo’s 1 year photos — didn’t I JUST take their newborn, 6 month, etc. photos!? π Where does the time go? It was nice to have his grandparents along too, as I know the whole family. Tyler is a blond hair, blue-eyed cutie who is now on the move — he’s been walking since 9 months! He had all kind of emotions going, but the best part was seeing his happy expressions, especially when his favorite music was played. This little guy has got rhythm! π There was some dancin’, flower pickin’, cake eatin’ and lastly, a BUBBLE bath to wash a way the mess.
Happy 1st Birthday, Tyler!!
andrew {1 year}
I had been looking forward to seeing this family again after I photographed Andrew for the first time just a few months ago at nine months. This time, we celebrated his first birthday, plus, it was his daddy’s first Father’s day, so even more special. π Andrew has the cutest smile and is now a fan of waving and clapping his hands. He was treated with a yummy cake just his size, and although a little timid about it at first, he didn’t hesitate to dig right in once he realized how delicious it was. Here’s a peek at some adorableness!
andrew {9 months}
After his parents were referred to me by my mother-in-law (thanks, Rose!), we set up a time to take some photos of this sweet little boy, Andrew, who is 9 months old! I really enjoyed getting to know his parents — they both are super sweet and I felt like we had already had multiple sessions together prior to this. π Considering that this was one of Andrew’s first times in a photo studio setup, he did so good! Smiles were plentiful, and we found that he was most comfortable with minimal clothing, shaking a maraca or riding his plane or horse. Without those distractions, he was definitely using his crawling abilities to try and escape at times. π Here’s a peek at this blue-eyed cutie pie!
cole {1 year}
I am really finding it hard to believe that Cole is going to be 1 year in about a month! It feels like we just celebrated our friends welcoming their new little boy into the world, and now he’s crawling like crazy, almost walking, mumbling a few words, and definitely showing an adorable little personality already. He is usually the happiest little man, but this time he was not in the best of moods when we began the shoot, and knowing that he is teething (those darn teeth!), a few methods of soothing perked him right up just in time to enjoy his cake smash! Speaking of which, he more or less poked his fingers in it for the first few minutes, and then finally tasted it. I’m not quite sure that he’s a fan of cake though. π We of course captured a few shots of the whole family — and it does not surprise me that Cole is photogenic, just like the rest of his family! Take a peek at the sweet little blue-eyed boy whose birthday we will soon be celebrating!
petersons {family}
The Peterson girls have always been cuties (who are growing up too fast), and now they have a sweet baby brother that has joined the family! Bryce, who was born back in September, is a handsome little guy with bright blue eyes. Although I’m not sure if he knew what he was getting into joining a family of almost all girls, he definitely has a pretty chill personality and seems to be okay with it. π It is so cute how personalities shine through, even at such a young age. You can always tell who likes to have their photo taken, and who would rather be playing elsewhere. π We were able to capture some cute moments of the whole family — here’s a few from the day!
slobotskis {family}
This last weekend, I went to our friends, Ally and Mark’s, gorgeous house on Bennington Lake for a family shoot. I was really hoping to take advantage of being both indoors and out, but the weather was not so pleasant, so indoors it was! The whole Slobotski family got together and what a lively group they are! With extended family photos, I particularly like shots with grandpa and grandma and all their grandchildren. You can always tell how proud they are. π And as I always say, letting kids just be kids brings out the best type of smiles. Jumping on beds, tickling, and Elmo definitely helped out during this particular shoot! π
Here’s a peek at our fun shoot. Happy New Year, everyone!
bacino & magnusson {family} // omaha
So glad that Laura contacted me about a family shoot while they were in town visiting from Las Vegas! Almost 2 years ago, I took Laura and Chris’s engagement photos. It was the end of December, so it was freezing cold out and there were little snow flakes falling. Now they’ve added a handsome little man, Tyler, to the family! Thankfully, it wasn’t as frigid cold this time, but Tyler was a champ, nonetheless, for staying out as long as he did. I can tell that Jan and Paul absolutely love being grandparents, and I’m sure they soak up every second of the time they get to spend with him. It was a fun little shoot, and it was even a nice surprise to capture some hot air balloons that were taking off nearby. Here’s a peek at a few shots from the day!
cassidy {newborn}
It feels like just yesterday that I captured Joyce and Jeff’s first born, Lindsey, as a newborn. Here she is almost 2 years old, and they’ve now welcomed a sweet new little lady into their family — Cassidy Lynn. If the two girls were born at the same time, they might have been mistaken as twins — they have so many similar features! And check out all that hair! So cute. Cassidy did wonderful during her first shoot, with exception to the grand finale (which we won’t get into — it’s not her fault we were slow in putting a diaper on!) π She was a great little sleeper which allowed for some fun posing! Thank you, Joyce and Jeff, for coming to my place for the shoot! You have adorable girls and I can’t wait to capture more of your sweet family in the future. π
{Kugler & Clasen} family shoot
This last weekend may have been one of the last “warm” days of the year, as today I actually saw some snow flakes!!! It was beautiful out, and once again, I had some amazing lighting to work with. I always love doing shoots with the Kuglers. Not only are they our good friends, they are SUCH naturals in front of the camera! This time, we included Leila’s grandparents, which made it even more special. I particularly like that they were great helpers in making Leila smile with their goofiness. I think I am sometimes oblivious to the craziness going on right above or behind me — but hey, whatever it takes to get an adorable smile –that’s what I watch for. π Here’s a peek at their sweet family shoot.
hannah & ethan {sweet siblings}
Hannah is 2, and Ethan 4, and they sure are adorable kids! A two year old’s emotions can go from happy to sad in a matter of minutes, so, capturing things quickly is key. π I always find that when I just let them play, the most natural poses are then captured. I love seeing the world through a child’s eyes too, as, it’s sometimes the little things that can really make you happy. Like picking cherries from a tree. Or throwing leaves up in the air. Or running through the field while playing tag. Their energy and spunk brought a smile to my face. Here’s a peek at our fun little shoot!
cole {6 months}
Seriously, where does the time go? Cole is now 6 months! Since his newborn photos, it has been so much fun to watch this handsome little guy grow up. Already, there is so much life and tons of smiles! Every time he makes eye contact, an immediate smile. And, I’m pretty sure he should be a baby model — the last few shots with the hat and diaper cover — oh my! Absolutely adorable and look at his blue eyes!! Love him. Here’s a peek at the latest Toland family shoot! π
fall {family} fun!
I have always enjoyed shoots which take place in the country. There is something about the stillness and less (if not any) noise that makes you stop to think more and just enjoy the simple things…like spending time with your family!Β The location for my latest family shoot took place on the Platte River at the family’s cabin which they have had forever. I really enjoyed getting to know them and mentioned that they shouldn’t be surprised if they find me just hanging out at their cabin randomly from here on out… π They were all so sweet and willing to do some fun poses too! Here are just a few moments from the shoot. It was a gorgeous fall day, and we were surrounded by the most beautiful light and colors.
norman {family}
This last weekend, I did a fun shoot with another mother that I met in MOMS group. Her daughter, Violet, is just about 20 months, and such a beauty this little one is. Her eyes are amazing and really draw you in. I always tell parents that I love children’s serious looks (even though I know most want the super smiley shots), and Violet definitely had a great serious look. It was a nice mix between the two — serious and happy — although she definitely made me work harder to get some smiles out….including tossing her doll up in the air to “fly” all while trying to hold my camera steady. π Here’s a peek at some of those moments.
treiber {family}
It had been awhile since I had seen the Treiber family, so it was fun to do a shoot with them since Jack is now three years old!! He is growing up too fast. They have always been a photogenic family, so I am never worried when Jack takes off and gets in kid mode, as we always seem to get great shots. π I thought it was cute when you ask Jack to show his teeth, he gives the biggest grin — or rather really shows you all his teeth. He apparently is a fan of the dentist. π I think he also got a little more adventurous since the last time I had seen him. He was jumping off walls into his father’s arms…. and kept going back for more. I think our whole shoot could have revolved around that activity. Here’s a peek at our fun evening!
coulter {family}
One day this last Spring, I took my daughter for a walk in our neighborhood park. Walking up to the playground, I noticed the only 2 other people there — what looked like a mom chasing around her very energetic little boy! We started chatting and I found out that she and her family had just moved up here from Texas. Since that day, we’ve had a few play dates and our kids are so cute together! It’s fun to watch them interact, and I think they have their own little language. π I was so happy when Lindsay asked me to take some photos of her family. Although their son, Max, didn’t give us a whole lot of smiles the day of, he is absolutely adorable! Those big blue eyes are going to get him in trouble with the ladies some day. π I really enjoyed hanging out and taking photos of the Coulter family and hope to continue getting to know them as it turns out they only live a few blocks away! Enjoy a sneak peek from their shoot!
vienna {1 year}
Vienna is ONE, and, she is one HAPPY baby! I loved her huge smiles and squeals of delight. She was awesome the entire shoot. I even got to try something that I’ve been wanting to do for awhile — cake smash, then right into an outdoor bubbly tub! It was so fun to watch her destroy the cake and even more fun capturing the soapy mess. My husband says that there is still a brown cake stain in our lawn today — and this took place last weekend. π Completely worth capturing those moments. Such an adorable family ~ I’ve had fun capturing Vienna’s first year!
koesters {family}
I have already given my daughter permission to marry either of the Koesters boys. Seriously, they are sooo stinkin’ cute, and, not to mention little gentlemen! π I adore the whole family and am always happy when they get in touch for another shoot. Hayden is now 3 and Hudson almost one — the perfect age combo for two brothers. They seem to have so much fun together — Hayden is already teaching Hudson the ropes. Plus, they are keeping their parents plenty busy. Despite the weather being a bit chilly, we had a fun time shooting at their house and in their backyard. Here’s a peek from the day!
linden {18 months}
Sometimes it takes a little while for kids to warm up to the camera,Β the strange lady behind the camera and a new environment, but, once they do, there is so much excitement and they don’t want the session to end! π That was the case with my latest shoot with sweet little Linden. I absolutely love children’s serious looks too though, so even if they don’t give me the biggest smiles, the photos turn out just as lovely… I know the parents want the smiley ones though, so fingers crossed for some of those as well. It always helps to have their favorite toys readily at hand, and hers was Elmo — he decided to steal the spotlight for a few shots while trying to get her attention. π Linden was an absolute delight to take photos of and I had such a fun time getting to know this cute family!
lindsey {1 year}
Seems like just yesterday I got the call that little Lindsey was born and was ready for her newborn session! One year later, she is still as sweet as can be and already looks so grown up. I think I mention this every time that I see her, but her eyes and lashes are amazing! So much personality from this little lady, and I can tell that her parents absolutely adore her. Apparently, her new favorite game is to play timber — where she just falls straight over onto pillows, blankets, her dog!, and in this instance, her parents shown in the very last shots. Such a cutie.
Happy Birthday again to Lindsey!
peterson {family}
I am always happy when the Peterson’s get in touch for a shoot. We’ve known them for quite awhile now, and each time, I say how sweet of a family they are! **We really do need to get together more often Taryn and CJ. π
This time, we captured some indoor shots since it was so cold outside. As always, there wasΒ spunk, playfulness and lots of love with this family. The girls were looking as adorable as ever and are growing up way too fast. I know I always seem to say that with children, but when you photograph them, you really do see the difference from session to session. It was cute to see theirΒ reaction when they even got to open up a present — Dora the Explora (am I saying that right? — maybe it’s just Explorer π — I should probably get used to this stuff having a girl now. Ha.
Enjoy a few shots from the day!
vienna {6 months}
Beautiful miss ViennaΒ has sure grown since I saw her last during her newborn session! She is now just over 6 months old and was looking as adorable as ever in her glamorous little outfits. And look at those gorgeous big blue eyes! Wow.
The whole family came over for yet another fun shoot. It’s cute to see the difference in personalities of the two siblings already. Vienna is just so chill, and Kyren still has the energy I remember him having during the first shoot. I’m sure it won’t be long before Vienna catches up to her brother’s curious ways. π I’m excited to see Vienna and the family again for her 1 year photos!
thanksgiving gathering {family}
The day after Thanksgiving, I had a wonderful time capturing a family of 25! How fun is it to have all 13 cousins together? A must-have captured moment. They ranged in age from 1-22 and were all so cute/beautiful/adorable looking. And, SO well-behaved! At the end of the shoot, they apologized for the chaos, but I thanked them for how organized and smoothly it went. With the weather being so chilly, we had everyone take shifts of warming up in their house, and then quickly running outside for their photos. My hands are still a little frozen from the day, and I’ve realized that I need to nerd out and buy some of those gloves that flip open at the fingers — you know what I’m talking about. π Anyways, here are a few fun moments from the day! Such an energetic and fun family!
Big Red Barn {family}
One of the first weddings that I shot took place at the Big Red Barn in Bennington, so I was excited when my friend, Bj, contacted me about having a family shoot there. They wanted something that felt “Nebraskan”, and the Big Red Barn definitely is that. His sister’s family came down from Minnesota and brought their adorable daughter, Ava. Having not met “Santa” yet, they decided to have him come for a surprise visit. It was cute to watch Ava’s reaction, she was just kind of indifferent, but lit up when a box of raisins was presented. π Here’s a sneak peek at their rustic barn family shoot!
